One Talent

The widow might have said, "Since all I have
is this small mite, I'll not give anything."
And David might have though, "I have no sword,
I'll go back home and take my little sling."

The boy with loaves and fish might well have said,
"what good are these for all this hungry throng?"
But each one gladly offered what he had
and left the rest to God.  Do we belong

With those who bring their gifts and know that God
can multiply, or is our faith so small
that we withhold our mite, and cheat ourselves
of joys that comes from freely giving all?

Blog of the Week

Starting next week, I would to start a "Blog of the Week" post... sharing a new blog or website each week with all of you.  It doesn't necessarily have to be someone new to the blog world, but just a new blog to me :)

While I already have a few blogs in mind, I would love to hear from my followers who have a blog!
Send me an email with your name, link to your website, and a little bio and I will pick a new one each week to showcase!  I hope that we can all come away with a few new friends and more inspiration from all of you creative bloggers!

Two Poems from Nana's Notebook:

The Day's Result
Is anybody happier
     because you passed his way?
Does anyone remember
that you spoke to him today?
The day is almost over,
     and its toiling time is through;
Is there anyone to utter now
     a kindly word of you?

Can you say tonight, in parting
with the day that's slipping fast,
that you helped a single brother
of the many that you passed?
Is a single heart rejoicing
over what you did or said?
Does the man whose hopes were fading
     now with courage look ahead.

Did you waste the day or lose it,
was it well or poorly spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness
    or a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber,
do you think that God would say,
"You have earned one more tomorrow
by the work you did today?"

God, be kind to mothers
with cookie jars to fill,
and funny lullabies to sing
when dusk blows down the hill!
Who scrub the small children's faces
when early school bells ring;
and let a boy bring puppies home,
or bugs, or anything.

God, be kind to mothers
when it is candle-time
and children's rounded voices
say prayers in ordered rhyme.
May there be special blessings
at night, when houses sleep,
on all the mothers everywhere
who have child hearts to keep.

Isaiah 1:18

a snow day!

While this snow coverage appears to be ridiculously thin, there is a lot of ice which makes this Texas snow day a little more understandable :)
It is a little different compared to {this day here} last year in Cincinnati, but a snow day is a snow day!
Hope all of you are warm and safe during these winter storms.  I plan to be back soon with some exciting updates and posts ;) but today I'm relaxing with my husband and my french pressed coffee.
