Daddy Daughter Dance 2017

Vera giggled all day waiting for the Daddy Daughter Dance!  We had been out of town all week, so she had slept with her photo from last year's dance to help remind her that she could go on her date with daddy once we returned home.  She kept telling me, "I'm going to dance on the ground this time!" because last year she was a overwhelmed by all of the people and just wanted Patrick to hold her and dance.  I think she tried her dress on 10 times before the day of the dance just to make sure it twirled correctly.  When the day finally arrived, it took tons of distracting to keep her from getting her dress on at 8am and asking for lip gloss every hour!!

I snapped a few photos while she waited for daddy to get ready (the one above might be my favorite photo ever!) and it is very clear that little miss Vera felt like a princess.  I'm so thankful for a church that celebrates that sweet bond between a daddy and his daughter.  And I also never want to take for granted the blessing of this girl's daddy.  He loves her so well and is an example to her in so many ways as he shows his love to me and cares for our family.

JR took a couple photos of me and Bauer before we headed off on our Mommy Son date!  It was getting a little dark, but JR took some sweet photos.  After a quick dinner at Chick-fil-a, I took the boys to the Kohl's toy aisle (JR's request!) and then to Starbucks for a special treat.  JR brought his wallet and a Starbucks card to pay for my drink.  He didn't know that the card was empty- ha! - but the cashier was sweet to play along and secretly ask me to pay the remaining balance :)  It's nights like these I am reminded of how special that one-on-one time is with our children and the impact it makes in their little hearts.

The most rewarding task we could ever imagine...

"It takes focus, dedication, and energy to train children in the way they should go.  And though motherhood is the most taxing job we will ever undertake, it also has the potential of being the most joyful and most rewarding task we could ever imagine... if we do it for the glory of our King."

Vali- proud sister

The other night I was testing the light in our backyard for a photoshoot and had the sweetest little models :)  I love how Vali poses like a proud big sister.  I don't give her much attention (except maybe when she is in the way or stinky!!) but she is never jealous, just a chill observer of our chaos.  Thankfully the kids and Patrick spoil her & love on her plenty!

and maybe the spilled food and extra snacks helps too ;)

Vera's Room

When we moved to Newburgh 3 years ago, I was about 8 months pregnant with Vera.  Her room needed the most amount of work.  Several layers of wallpaper and all dark wood trim:
That wallpaper was horrible!  It even took some of the wall with it, so we had someone come and smooth out the walls before we painted. Paint Color: Falling Star from Porter Paints
Here is how Vera's nursery looked after lots of work...

And then after she got a little bit older, we moved things around a bit.  Here is what it looks like today (when it's clean after her twenty outfit changes a day!)

Last Spring

I just came across these two blog posts from last spring {here} and {here}.  Vera has grown so much :) and we are all hoping mama bunny picks our yard again for her new babies.  John Ryman asks about our baby bunnies more than he does his baby brother's arrival!

It's Monday Already!

I've been preparing for our spring photoshoot and styling some gorgeous accessories with the scarves.  I kept my camera out today after I took a few photos of Vera & I was reminded that I need to take more "real" photos!  These kiddos are changing so much... and sweet Vali sure is turning gray in the face.

How precious is this headband from Plum Polka Dot!? and those curls too :)
I hope all of you have a great start to your week! Here's to extra coffee & a productive Monday! xoxo

Baby Gift Guide- Christmas 2014

For the adventurous creative:
Little Sapling Toys has the cutest wooden camera ever!
But be sure to check out their personalized ornaments, toy cars & more...
My new favorite are the wooden baby teethers that can be personalized &
created in the shape of your state.  Adorable baby gift :)

For the little entertainer:
These cute bells & tambourine were from the $1 section at Target!
You could find a mix of musical instruments as a fun gift for a little one...
Just be sure to package them all in a cute box or basket
so that mom or dad can hide them neatly away when their ears get tired :)
I also see a lot of Melissa & Doug at TJMaxx & their
beginner band set and musical toys are great!

For the tiny fashionista:
New comfy moccasins paired with a personalized shirt!
Wild Explorers has the cutest styles of baby moccs- I'm loving the metallics...
This #fancy shirt is perfect- Little Goose Shop has so many adorable personalized options
and of course why not top off the gift with an
Everyday Pitter Patter Reversible baby scarf ;)

And for the little animal lover:
Nothing could be more perfect than a print from Sharon Montrose's
The Animal Print Shop... Actually I want some of these for Christmas!
Vera has the fawn in her nursery (actually used to be in JR's)
and I would love to have a collage one day in JR's room
except I don't know how I could choose.  They are all so amazing!
Hop on over to her shop and you'll spend too long looking at all of the animals
from the Little Darlings section to the Cougar close-up & Longhorn Steer...
