Spring Clippings = Free Statement Decor

Of course, I love Myquillyn Smith's advice (The Nester!) to bring branches and free bouquets from your yard inside your home.  Her most recent Instagram posts have some beautiful photos showing what she brought indoors.  And her statement about azaleas {here} had me laughing!  Their blooms sure are gorgeous, but as she said... "It's their one week to shine before they go back to looking like shriveled burnt bushes in my yard." Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this :)

Have any favorite branches or spring flowers in your own yard? (or a kind neighbor?!) Take a photo and share with us! Comment below with a link to your Instagram photo or blog post.

Gardens Past & Color in the Future

The past few days I have been scrolling through old photos looking at our garden and backyard.  These are from our old house, but I'm finalizing and planning the garden at our new home and needed some ideas.  I have a seed planting party this weekend (looking like it might be moved indoors- darn!) and these photos have me excited to add some color to the yard soon!  This rainy day makes me want all the spring colors!

and here's to hoping for some bunny friends in the garden again!

Daddy Daughter Dance 2017

Vera giggled all day waiting for the Daddy Daughter Dance!  We had been out of town all week, so she had slept with her photo from last year's dance to help remind her that she could go on her date with daddy once we returned home.  She kept telling me, "I'm going to dance on the ground this time!" because last year she was a overwhelmed by all of the people and just wanted Patrick to hold her and dance.  I think she tried her dress on 10 times before the day of the dance just to make sure it twirled correctly.  When the day finally arrived, it took tons of distracting to keep her from getting her dress on at 8am and asking for lip gloss every hour!!

I snapped a few photos while she waited for daddy to get ready (the one above might be my favorite photo ever!) and it is very clear that little miss Vera felt like a princess.  I'm so thankful for a church that celebrates that sweet bond between a daddy and his daughter.  And I also never want to take for granted the blessing of this girl's daddy.  He loves her so well and is an example to her in so many ways as he shows his love to me and cares for our family.

JR took a couple photos of me and Bauer before we headed off on our Mommy Son date!  It was getting a little dark, but JR took some sweet photos.  After a quick dinner at Chick-fil-a, I took the boys to the Kohl's toy aisle (JR's request!) and then to Starbucks for a special treat.  JR brought his wallet and a Starbucks card to pay for my drink.  He didn't know that the card was empty- ha! - but the cashier was sweet to play along and secretly ask me to pay the remaining balance :)  It's nights like these I am reminded of how special that one-on-one time is with our children and the impact it makes in their little hearts.

Grove Collaborative

So for the past several months we have been trying out a new company called Grove.
I used to buy my cleaning supplies and home products from mainly Target and Honest Company and then I would of course forget something and pick up extras at the grocery.  Knowing that our shopping cart was about to get a lot fuller (baby-wearing is really the only option- how else do y'all fit 3 kids and anything else in a cart at one time?!) I started looking into the most cost effective, time saving & practical options for our family.  Thanks to The Nester sharing a coupon code, I thought I would try one order and then cancel once I received my $10 off, but I ended up loving the new products, customer service & free gifts on my doorstep!  It's been several months now and I don't buy cleaning or laundry supplies any other way!
I still get our shampoo & some toiletries from Honest because it works best for our sensitive skin & I can bundle for a good price our favorite shave oil & healing balm (Have you smelled their new shampoo scent- Apricot Kiss?! Delish!)  Every other household product from Grove gets shipped for free to our door whenever I want!  You can do recurring shipments if you prefer if you know how long certain products last for your family (they offer text reminders that I found very helpful) but I usually just do a few orders a month in no particular rhythm when I notice we are running low on something.  The free shipping makes that super helpful because with Honest I felt like I would do a monthly order and forget one item and have to make a trip to the store again- defeating the purpose of home delivery!
I have found that I spend less money on household items since I started using Grove! For example, Mrs. Meyer's cleaners may only be 25 cents cheaper on Grove than Target, but we all know we pick up extra stuff that is not on our list when we run into an actual store!!  Extra cart space when at the grocery & no Target dollar bin additions that aren't really a dollar make it totally worth it for me. They also give free items & credit for friends that sign up- I've received a glass bottle, large hand sanitizer, chapstick and lots of $ credit just in the last two months!

If you want to try it out and get $10 off this month plus a free gift of your own... {CLICK HERE}

My top favorites:
Mrs. Meyer's Basil Dish Soap
Grove Candle in Eucalyptus & Spearmint
Grove Kitchen Towels- the best!
Acure Facial Scrub

A few ideas...
-If you use essential oils, I love their glass spray bottle mixed with Thieves (or any oil!) to clean the kitchen.
-I just ordered a set of my favorites for a wedding shower (you could do baby shower items too!)  and I got $10 off and free shipping.  Wrap it all up or put them in a cute basket and its the perfect gift!
-When their candles are on sale, add an extra to your order because they are the perfect gift to have on hand when you need something last minute. And they smell amazing!
-Follow The Nester on Instagram because sometimes she will post free gifts for an existing Grove member or a new scent she recommends!

Stitch Fix #5- Box Details, my Favorites & my Review

My next Stitch Fix arrived in the mail!  The kids always love getting the mail with me, but when it comes to my Stitch Fix box I usually wait to open it until they are napping or in bed so DI can have fun opening it :)
I love that my stylist explained her choices in this note below... and even recommended pairing one of the items with something from a few fixes ago.
I loved all three shirts- the fit & the colors!  I loved the back on this first one- with the key hole and sheer mint back:
Gorgeous details on the front of this one:
And this had a pretty back as well (I liked the first two shirts better though)
I loved these shorts! They were a great length and super comfy- just not sure how often I would wear them.
And the last item- dainty gold earrings.  Really pretty, but I actually have a pair that is similar.
Like every fix, my choices depend on what fits my budget and what item will get the most use.  I'm glad that all of the pieces fit and I loved each one, but it does make it hard to decide which to keep!!

Have you all tried StitchFix?  Any favorite pieces you have received in your box? Feel free to leave a link in the comments if you have written a review on your own blog!

Stitch Fix #4- Box Details, My Review & Wardrobe Ramblings

https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/3384702
My next Stitch Fix box arrived!  I told y'all I would share my next box and how I'm liking what my stylist picks out for me, so here it is:
I love waiting for the kids to take a nap and then going through my box :) My own special quiet shopping experience.  I didn't have much to spend this time around and I was mainly looking for a new spring top, but I'll show you each piece my stylist picked out for me... The package includes 5 items, a return bag (with postage and labels ready), a receipt run- down, and a note from the stylist with 2 outfit ideas for each item:

The following B&W shirt is the one thing I ended up keeping this box:
LOVED this coral but since I couldn't pick both, I preferred the fit and classic style of the B&W just a little bit more.
This dress was even cuter in person, but just fit a little big at the top and around the arm holes.
Perfect fit on jeans, again!  Still amazes me :)  I loved the distressed look and fit of these, but I do have some jeans a similar wash as these so I couldn't break my budget for them!  It did make me rethink how I style the jeans I already own- that's why I love the style cards they send with each piece!
It's nice not to feel forced to keep the entire box and they make it so simple to drop in my mailbox & fill out a quick checkout survey to explain what I liked and didn't like about each one.

At only 4 Stitch Fix boxes so far, I've already seen an improvement in the styles, colors and fit they choose for me.  I'm cleaning out my closet this week before bringing in my summer clothes and having a big yard sale!  I hope to make a little money so I can start filtering out my wardrobe.  I want to move from lots of clearance items that can only be worn with certain pants/tanks to cover an odd fit or holes... to less items that are higher quality, interchangeable without a lot of fuss or thought.  Does that make sense?  Or is it just me that has a pile of clothes on the floor when I'm getting ready to leave the house and I don't have time for that?  Maybe that will just always be me :)

I would love to hear if you have tried Stitch Fix and what you think? Or if you have any tips on creating the perfect wardrobe with or without a stylist's help.  Feel free to comment below!
